‘I imagined what it would be like to follow the stream back to its source, to go to its origin in the mountain.’ (Bernie Mallinger on ‘B.A.C.H. – like waters’)

‘This is no ordinary string quartet,’ stated the great jazz and rock guitarist John McLaughlin with praise and recognition. Indeed, the classically trained radio.string.quartet, which first caused a sensation at the 2006 Berlin Jazz Festival with its own arrangements of McLaughlin's Mahavishnu Orchestra, reinvents itself every time. Whether classical, jazz, pop, rock, folk or electronic music, everything becomes a source of inspiration and flows into the sound cosmos of the Viennese ensemble. In ‘BACH – like waters’, composed by Bernie Mallinger (SKO-Sternstunde ‘Iron Maiden in Love with Vivaldi’!) in the silence of lockdown, they gently transport Bach's Sonata for Solo Violin in G minor into the 21st century, enriched with the human voice and sound design. A venture that demands total dedication from the four musicians. Cellist Sophie Abraham recalls the feeling when they played the last movement, the Presto, for the first time: ‘It was powerful. Exhaustion and enlightenment at the same time.’ In other words: a revelation.
