Social Projects

In the course of the 2018/2019 season, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra launched two new concert series. With „Concerto Mobile“ and „Tafelmusik“, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra reflects on its social responsibility. Through these new formats, classical chamber music of the highest standard is made available for all kinds of people to experience. The audience and the orchestra come together in exciting surroundings, away from the typical concert hall format.

Concerto Mobile

Music represents a particularly good way of enhancing cohesion in our society, beyond social and cultural boundaries. As many people do not have the means or the interest to find their way to a traditional concert hall, for a wide range of reasons, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra will be coming to them – approachable, tailored to their needs and with wonderful music. In the current concert season, there will be ten open-air concerts in Stuttgart, all with free admission, on various different public squares or in socially vulnerable areas.

The dates will be announced at the right time.

  • 15:30 Uhr vor dem Café DA: Brennerstraße 29, Stuttgart
  • 18:00 Uhr unter der Paulinenbrücke, Stuttgart

  • 16:30 Uhr am Wilhelmsplatz 6, Stuttgart

  • Zeit und Ort werden noch veröffentlicht.

Within the context of the free-of-charge distribution of meals, a “musical dessert” will also be provided in the form of a compact classical concert given by the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, also with free admission. The special attraction in this case is the further development of the concept of “Tafelmusik” (meaning “dining music”) which was originally a privilege reserved only for the nobility and now becomes a freely available provision for people from a range of situations of need. Here too, the closeness of musicians and audience will lead to opportunities for conversation and the sharing of common experiences.

Tafelmusik is sponsored by the L-Bank Baden-Württemberg and the Wüstenrot Foundation.
