„Leadership and the art of orchestra conducting”

Since holding the role of CEO of the renowned Innsbruck Master Concerts and the Innsbruck Festival Weeks, the leading festival for early music, Markus Korselt has now been executive director of the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra since 2017 and is thus responsible for the business and artistic development of the orchestra. When he first took on this role, the orchestra was awarded membership of the “Excellent Orchestra Landscape” by the German Ministry of Culture and has received special funding since this time. In 2018 he led the orchestra on various concert tours including trips to Japan, India, China and Nepal, as well as to the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. Under his leadership, countless new concert formats have been developed for Stuttgart and Baden-Wuerttemberg, the number of concerts has doubled, and revenues and profits have achieved new records. Aside from this, he primarily conducts orchestras in China. Whilst he was doing his degree, he also stood in to play the cello for the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.

Johannes Klumpp is one of the most exciting and successful conductors of his generation and has been working with the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra for many years. He was born in Stuttgart and won prizes at countless competitions early on in his career, including the Besançon Conducting Competition, the German University Competition and the German Conductors’ Competition. Nowadays Johannes Klumpp has a busy concert schedule with a number of renowned orchestras, including the Concert House Orchestra of Berlin, the Hesse State Orchestra, the MDR Symphony Orchestra of Leipzig, the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra, the State Orchestra of Stuttgart, the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra and the Chamber Academy of Potsdam. His most recent CD recording with the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra and bassoonist Matthias Rácz was highly acclaimed by critics.
