Making audible „the big in the small“ is the vision of this project. With their radical tonal language and breathtaking density, three works seduce musicians and listeners to discover hitherto unheard qualities in chamber orchestration. The Stuttgarter Kammerorchester, one of the most versatile and renowned ensembles of its kind, has recorded the original score in choral instrumentation with string orchestra under its principal conductor Thomas Zehetmair. Beethoven‘s string quartet „Serioso“ thus unfolds a fascinating force, Brahms‘ string quintet No. 2 reveals its symphonic layout and Schönberg‘s sensitive setting of Dehmel‘s poem „Verklärte Nacht“ appears even more emotional in a finely graded dynamic.
