The Stuttgarter Kammerorchester, founded in 1945, consists of 17 full-time musicians from 10 nations. The orchestra's repertoire is varied: it focuses on string orchestra and chamber music literature, but also performs symphonic works with an enlarged orchestra. In addition to classical music from baroque to contemporary, the program also includes genre excursions into jazz, rock and electro.
Around 90 concerts are performed each season, including up to two intercontinental tours and numerous trips to Germany, Austria, Switzerland and other European countries.

 

Required Pieces:

A classical solo concerto (e. g. Haydn, Boccherini): 1st movement (incl. cadenza) & 2nd movement

J. S. Bach: 2 contrasting movements from the solo suites (BWV 1007–1012)

Selection from the following sonatas (1st movement, exposition only):
Brahms: Sonata in E minor, Op. 38 or Sonata in F major, Op. 99 / Rachmaninoff: Sonata for Cello and Piano in G minor, Op. 19 / Shostakovich: Sonata for Cello and Piano, Op. 40

 

Orchestral Excerpts (Tutti/Solo):

Tchaikovsky: Serenade Op. 48, 1st movement, B–C

Stravinsky: Concerto in D, rehearsal numbers 86–88

Mendelssohn: Scherzo from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”

Brahms: String Symphony after the String Quintet in G major, Op. 111, 1st movement

Beethoven: The Creatures of Prometheus, No. 5, bars 33–72

Vasks: Musica dolorosa, rehearsal numbers 21–22

Sollima: When We Were Trees, 4th movement
