Album „Bloom“

Pianist Bill Laurance, five-time Grammy Award winner and founding member of the band Snarky Puppy, released Bloom in 2024, an album featuring intense, emotional orchestral music. Classical, jazz and pop sounds flow together here. It is a fusion style that the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra has felt at home with for years.

‘The starting point of my career is my classical piano training,’ says Bill Laurance, ‘and this album is certainly the most “classical” I've ever made.’ The opening track, which gives the album its title, immediately shows how naturally he manages the balancing act between a classically influenced orchestral sound, the playing style of jazz and the catchiness of popular music. Bloom is particularly inspired by the childlike ability to create new worlds in the imagination. "Every decision we make has its origin in our imagination. And what we can achieve is limited only by our ability to dream. This ability to pull back the curtain of reality has greatly inspired me to expand my own possibilities." So, raise the curtain on boundless music – full of contrasts and reminiscent of Vivaldi, Shostakovich and Philip Glass.
