In “Viva la Pop”, Florian Willeitner reimagines great songs for the Stuttgarter Kammerorchester – with sophisticated arrangements and a keen sense of groove, timbre and melody. Willeitner has never cared about genre boundaries – as a tireless creator and innovator on the classical music scene, he performs internationally on stages around the world, not only with the Vision String Quartet and the New Piano Trio.
In this new programme, classics such as ‘99 Luftballons’, ‘Hold the Line’, ‘Jump’, ‘Blackbird’ and ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ meet the warm, fluid sound of a string orchestra. Without drums, but with ingenious playing techniques to create a magnificent range of sounds. An evening straddling pop culture and chamber music, virtuosic, playful and with an audible delight in experimentation.
